Wisconsin Spring Regional for Ozaukee Scholastic Shooting Sports Team.
Ozaukee Scholastic Shooting Sports (OSSS) completed the first action shooting match of our season on May 13th, 2023. The Wisconsin Spring Regional was attended by 8 teams from 3 states (WI, MI, and IA) totaling 313 entries, of which 43% were female athletes. OSSS pistol/rifle team placed very well, including first place in both center fire pistol and 1911- varsity squad, first place in optic rifle- open squad, and second place in rimfire pistol- intermediate (middle school) squad. Individually, OSSS’s Matt Sauer placed HOA in center fire pistol and 1911, and Owen Mondloch placed a close second in center fire pistol.
OSSS is looking forward to our WI State Match coming up June 17-18th, which will be the largest SASP (Scholastic Action Shooting Program) State Match in the nation with 462 entries, over 100 more than the Texas State Match which is the second largest. Thirteen teams from 3 states will compete at the WI State Match, of which 41% will be female athletes. We are in need of Range Safety Officers for our state match.
In July, OSSS will be attending SASP Nationals in Ohio which is already set to be a world record with over 2300 entries.
If you’d like to learn more about OSSS, please contact Dave Sauer 262-894-9552
2023 Wisconsin State IDPA Championship
On June 2nd and June 3rd, our club hosted the 23rd annual WI State IDPA Championship. Our club Secretary & Pistol Chairman, Robby Schwanz, was the match director, and our membership officer, Darrell Brown, was the Chief Safety Officer. We had over 120 registered participants from all over the US as well as two international competitors. We hosted 10 different courses of fire requiring skills test of shooting on the move, shooting from cover, shooting activated moving targets and other fundemental skills of shooting strong and weak hand only.
Club members Andrew P. won 1st Place Carry Optics Sharpshooter Class, Robby S. won 1st Place Compact Carry Pistol Expert Class, & Tim F won 2nd Place Enhanced Service Pistol Sharpshooter Class.
A big thank you to all of the club members that helped make this event a huge success with a week long of setup and tear down including Bev & John W., James S., Robby S., Tim F., Mike M., Darrell B., John O., Mark S., Julie H., Andrew P., Jeff T., John T., Dan B., & Todd S. We also had the support of many athletes from OSSS, their families and multiple working members from our club.
Open Trap Shooting Updates
Sundays, Mondays & Wednesdays we will now have an extra trap field open to accomodate the higher volume of trap shooters we’ve been experiencing. We will not have the field staffed with a puller to keep costs down. This field will be great for those looking to shoot rounds of practice that don’t need official scorekeeping. We’ve been trying it out the past few Wednesdays and it has reduced the backlog, specifically for the first hour of being open, so we are extending this to Sundays and Mondays now. Dan has officially named this, “The Express Lane”.
Tuesday Action Pistol Practice Sessions
We will start having action pistol practice sessions for club members only on the Roger Cross Action Shooting Range Tuesday evening from 4:30pm to 7:00pm starting May 2nd. All safety rules from IDPA / USPSA will apply.
The bays will be available for practice, but the club will not be doing any setup or teardown; members participating will be fully responsible setup / teardown. Target stands etc will be available for use and targets (limited availability) will be available to purchase for $2 each. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].
Any updates or cancellations will be posted on our Facebook group, “Saukville Action Pistol Sports”. Please follow this group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/srpcidpa

Guest Pass for Rifle/Pistol Range
Members are allowed to bring guests to the rifle range. We began this policy several years ago at the request of membership. It seems to be serving our members well and we have not received any complaints so far. The guest pass is good for the entire day of the request and the cost is $10 per guest. The host-member must be present on the range with the guest.
To bring a guest you must first obtain approval and then purchase one Guest Pass per guest. Approvals are required so we can monitor the volume of guests to help ensure our regular members are not crowded off the rifle range.
Approvals require that you provide your membership number, guest quantity and date of guest attendance.
- Approvals can be secured by calling or texting (preferred) Darrell Brown at 262-707-1472 or by email at [email protected]
- Guest passes can be purchased online at https://saukvillegunclub.com/shop/product/guest-pass/
IMPORTANT! The host-member is responsible for guest behavior, particularly as it relates to range safety. Guest behavior is applied to the member-host as if they committed the infraction. Please review club rules with your guest before going to the range. Note that the “No rapid fire on the Rifle / Pistol Range. Shots must be at least 1 second apart..” rule continues to be the most popular violation of club rules. Club rules can be found at https://saukvillegunclub.com/rules

The league is designed to take beginners to whatever skill level they wish to achieve and provide experienced shooters with more opportunities.
