Board Update
We had our election for President and Secretary at our September meeting. Jeff Trice was re-elected and won a 2-year term as President. Robby Schwanz was re-elected and won a 2-year term as Secretary.
Club Bylaw Section 4.02 has also been updated to include 3 additional club officer positions. We have added officers for IDPA, USPSA & Steel Challenge. Previously all of these activities have been led by the Pistol Officer. With the growth we’d had in the action pistol sports, we wanted to more closely mirror our other activities and have a dedicated officer or chairmain like Trap, Skeet & 5-Stand Officers for our shotgun sports.
The New Section 4.02 will read:
The Corporation shall have by appointment a Club manager, Membership officer, Trap officer, Skeet officer, Rifle officer, Pistol officer, IDPA officer, USPSA officer, SCSA officer, 5-Stand officer, Archery officer and Activities chairman. These appointed officers and chairmen will also be Directors of the Corporation as noted in section one.
James Sponholz was appointed Pistol Officer and will take over effective immediately those duties from Robby Schwanz. David Pagel was appointed to the newly created role of Steel Challenge Officer. Robby Schwanz was appointed to the newly created USPSA Officer and IDPA Officer roles.
Congratulations & Thank You to Jeff, Robby, James & David!

We need volunteers to help us run this event. Volunteers will spot for hunters and assist in adjusting scopes to zero. This is a great way for working members to get in their hours or for other members to get more involved and help out.
To sign up, please visit: https://saukvillegunclub.com/volunteer/
If you have any questions about this, please email [email protected].
As a reminder to our members, the range will be closed for member shooting. Members can of course come to the event and buy a ticket to use the range.
Rifle Range Construction Update
Our range is nearly complete. We are working on some finishing touches.
We recently installed our shed where we will house 1×2 sticks for the target stands & used IDPA & USPSA targets for members to use for either target backers or to directly shoot. If you use the cardboard targets and they are still good, please place back in the shed; if they have little integrity left, please dispose of them in the actual dumpster and not in the trash cans as they fill up the trash cans very quickly.
Rules Update
Please take some time to read our updated range rules.
https://saukvillegunclub.com/rules/
Some notable issues we have been seeing that we want to call out and remind everyone about:
- The Range opens at 9am.
- The Range closes at Sunset. We have added a dynamic sunset time to the rules page linked above. Other things like weather apps have this available at no cost if it is unavailable on the rules page. Please make sure you are aware of the daily sunset time.
- Please do not speed on the range property. The road is narrow & winding. We’ve had several reports of people driving excessively fast on the new range road. Please do not exceed 15MPH at any time on any of the club’s property.
- Please take your used targets down and clean up any of your garbage when you are done. We want to keep the property clean for all to enjoy. There is a large dumpster available on the range to dispose of targets and other waste.
- Please do not park by the bays as that area gets too congested. You may load & unload, but please park in the designated parking areas. We do now have signs posted. The rules page linked above has an illustration identifying loading areas and parking areas.
- Please do not shoot our stands, cones or similar. These of course cost money and consume volunteer hours to build.
- As a reminder: Any member may be expelled by unanimous vote of the Executive Board for any of the following reasons:
- Theft of Club property.
- Destruction of Club property.
- Willful violation of Club rules.
- Reckless use of firearms.
- As a reminder: Any member may be expelled by unanimous vote of the Executive Board for any of the following reasons:
Donations to support the New Range Costs
UPDATE: We’ve received just under $15,000 in donations from members to help support the costs of the new range construction. This has gone a long way in helping our club cover the costs of this construction. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that has contributed!
This move will be costing our club approximately $100,000 to build a new access road, remove trees, build new berms and add other amenities like benches and roof to the new range.
We are asking any members that would be willing to donate to the club to help offset these costs to please do so. We are able to take donations online or from mailing a check.
Donations online can be made by clicking here:
https://saukvillegunclub.com/shop/product/range-construction-donation/
Please note: Donating by mailing a check, especially for any large donations, is preferred due to avoiding processing fees from online payment processors.
Please make out and mail any donation checks to:
Saukville Gun Club
P.O. Box 13
Saukville, WI 53080
Please note the purpose of the check in the memo field or with a note that it is to help with range construction costs.
We sincerely apprecate a donation of any size to assist with large outflow of cash we will have to cover these expenses.
